Inspired by some spoilers that I saw yesterday.

Summary: “You can’t be in between. It’s me or her.”

“So, what did you want to talk about?” the young avatar asked as she approached the firebender on her team.

“It’s about… Us,” he hesitated.

“Okay?” she replied uncertainly. “What about us?”

“You know what I’m talking about Korra,” he sighed, running a hand through his hair.

“If you’re referring to our relationship,” she started. “Then no.” She nonchalantly began to examine her nails, not wanting to get into this at the moment.

“Korra,” he said in a warning tone. “We have to talk about this.”

“No, we don’t.” She snapped back at him, feeling the irritation rise through her. “There’s nothing between us. Nothing at all Mako. You made that pretty damn clear. You know, since you’re dating her and all.”

“You and I both know that’s a lie,” he tried again, taking a step forward.

“Oh?” she challenged him, drawing herself to full height. “Then please, explain all of this to me.” She spread her hands out in front of her. “Please, tell me what the great Mako believes is happening between us, because obviously, he is never wrong.”

“Look,” he was starting to feel tired. “I know you like me, and you know how I feel about you…” He trailed off, suddenly unsure about where to take this.

“You know what, no I don’t,” she bit back. “I honestly don’t understand any of this, weird tension between us. You can’t just decide to be with Asami, and then keep playing with my feelings. I refuse to be your back up plan.”

“You aren’t my back up plan!” He yelled back in frustration. “I like you Korra, and you know that.”

“Yeah, well,” she was starting to fight back tears. “You can’t have it both ways. You can’t be in between, Mako. You got to decide it’s me or her.”

He stared at her for a long moment, unsure of what to say. She stared back, reading his expression and suddenly she knew.

“Alright, if that’s how it’s going to be.” She turned on her heel and left. Leaving the young firebender to stare at her retreating form as a pool of regret gathered in his belly.

She was the Avatar and he was an idiot.

So I’m putting this here, on my second blog rather than ranting about it on my personal one, because I’m sure the person I’m talking about would see it. But, you can pretty much just ignore this.

Now, every morning I talk to a couple of people about LoK and YJ, and gush about what happened and how we reacte to certain things. This morning, I got a text as usual. So when it came to the topic of Korra, I told this person about how sad I was that Korra was so scared and lonely throughout the entire episode, and how I felt bad for her. And this person says ‘well it’s her fault for taking the bait and doing something she wasn’t ready to do.’

Mind you, I’m almost 19, so it’s pretty stupid for me to get worked up about this, but it really made me mad. Yeah, she is partially at fault for saying things she knew she couldn’t deliver on, but then you can see she regrets it in the end. She tried to stay away, to contain herself, but her pride got the better of her. And I think she knows it.

So why did I get mad about this? Well, because I think that people shouldn’t say things like this in general. Even if LoK is just a cartoon, remember that kids watch this show. They mimic behaviors and actions based on their favorite characters and favorite scenes. So when they show Korra, the hero of this show, being human and vulnerable, it shows these kids that it’s okay to feel this way, and still be a great hero. But, this can be applied to real life people as well.

Let’s look at celebrities and politicians and all other famous people today. We’ve all read or heard tabloids before, criticizing people for how they dress, what they say, how they think, and other things, as if we’re better than them. But we’re not, they’re human, we’re human. Sure, these people make bad choices, say some bad things, but don’t we all? Why do they have to be put up on this moral pedestal and expected better of? Because they’re famous? Because they’re up on a pedestal in the first place? So, that automatically makes them better than the average human, and so they can no longer be ‘normal’ people? And now they aren’t allowed to make mistakes or have their own personal opinions?

No, no, no, no. Sorry, I don’t think so. Yes, I believe that there are some situations in which they should control themselves, but no, I don’t think that they should hold back what they believe in or what they think just because of who they are.

But, before this get’s out of hand, I don’t think it’s fair to always be expecting perfection from everyone, after all we’re only human. And humans make mistakes.

Is it bad, that I a Makorra shipper to the core, find it hilarious that everyone is freaking out? I mean, you guys, seriously, calm yourselves. I understand that our ship has taken a serious blow, I do, I totally do. But I just read a post about this poor person who had AN ANXIETY ATTACK because you’re blowing this up so big. We don’t know the episode or it’s contents. We still have another season. Makorra can still be end game. Honestly, it just reminds me of Katara and her implied love interests all throughout ATLA, but in the end, Kataang was still end game.

So I’m asking you to calm yourselves, not because your ranting is annoying or unwarranted (because I understand), but because there are people out there who still haven’t seen the spoilers and are reading your posts and freaking out and literally, experience pain over them. So please just be considerate of the people around you.

In light of recent events, I decided to write a little Makorra for you all!

Pairing: Makorra

They could say what they want, but she was the only one who knew him like this.

She let out a small yelp as he flipped them so he was just hovering over her and grinned when she saw the look in his eye. “Just in case though, why don’t I remind you how much I love you.”

“So,” the attractive brunette began as she curled against him.

“So,” he echoed, sliding an arm around her to pull her closer, enjoying the feeling of her skin against his.

“I read the paper today,” she commented casually.

“Oh, so you can read other things besides those comics-.” He was cut off by a slap to the chest. “Ow.”

“Shut up,” she said rolling her eyes and felt him pull her closer. She smiled. “There was an article about you and Asami in it.”

He frowned into her hair. “What did it say?”

“That you two are the next big thing,” she replied. “It said you were on a date when they photographed you guys.”

“What?” Though she couldn’t see his face, she knew he was glaring at the wall. “Bullshit.”

“No really. There was eye witness accounts and everything talking about how love struck you were, and how you two seemed like the perfect couple. Then there was the interview with the waiter who supposedly served you at that tea shop,” Korra was cut off when he jerked her away from him.

“You don’t believe that stuff right?” his amber eyes glowing in the soft moonlight. “You know I would never-“

“I know Mako! Otherwise you wouldn’t be here, lying in bed with me,” she mused and smiled at him. “Besides, I trust you.”

His frowned didn’t lessen, and his brow remained furrowed. “I’m serious. I don’t like her like that. And I would never cheat on you. I love you, and only you.” He looked so serious in that moment, she couldn’t help but laugh. “What?” He asked feeling slightly irritated that he was the only one taking this seriously.

“No, it’s just, I know. I never doubted you for a second. Besides,” she slid against him and brushed her mouth to his ear, enjoying the slight shivers that rolled off his body. “You’re very straight forward about these things.”

She let out a small yelp as he flipped them so he was just hovering over her and grinned when she saw the look in his eye. “Just in case though, why don’t I remind you how much I love you,” he murmured as he leaned down to kiss her.

“Well, I guess that couldn’t hurt.” She smiled and met him half way.

Needless to say, neither of them got that much sleep that night. And neither did poor Bolin.

In which Korra loses control, and Mako is there to keep her grounded.

White. All she could see was white. She wasn’t sure how exactly how she could suddenly bend the air around her, or why she felt so powerful, but she didn’t care at that point. This was what she wanted; power, but most of all revenge.

It started off like any other day. Practice at the gym, then back to the temple for airbending training, and maybe if there was time, she and Naga could go out on a stroll or she could hang out with the brothers. But then, things took a turn for the worst. The equalists began raiding the air temple.

It wasn’t as if they hadn’t seen it coming. Tenzin and the White Lotus were well aware that once and spirits forbid, if the movement grew large enough, then they would most likely be their next target and so safety precautions were taken. Safe houses and secure locations just outside of the city were fashioned, rations and supplies put aside for the time an attack came. So when the equalists surrounded the island and began taking out the sentries one by one, The first to flee was Pema and the kids, who were put on Oogi and sent immediately to the safe house outside the city before they were to make the trip to the South Pole, where Katara would look after them. Next were the monks and other acolytes, and were Tenzin and Korra, who insisted on staying.

“I’m a councilman of this city,” he said. “I will not run and hide while the people I swore to protect are targeted.”

Korra insisted that if Tenzin refused to leave out of duty, then she too had the right to stay as the Avatar. Not willing to argue at the moment, Tenzin reluctantly allowed her to stay and together they fought off the equalists, but the rogues kept coming in waves, and it seemed that their forces would never end. Korra was growing tired and weaker, and so was her air bending master.

They saw the attack and smoke from their window. Bolin was the first to give a shout of surprise and pull Mako over to the window to show him. Mako felt his heart sink as the worst possible scenario played over and over again in his head. They wasted no time running down to the bay and ~~stealing~~ securing a boat. It the trip didn’t last long, thanks to the boat being one of those new motorized speed boats that the Sato company had just released, and for that he was grateful. Together, the brother jumped off the boat and onto the shore, quickly running up the steps to the temple, bending any equalist that stood in their way off their path. When they reached the top it was chaos. Many of the White Lotus sentries were knocked out, but still a little less than half remained standing, fighting. The equalists were at an advantage however, their numbers being far greater than warriors on the island.

“I’m going to find Korra and Tenzin,” Mako yelled over the fray. “You stay here and help.”

Bolin only nodded, understanding the situation. Quickly, he bended mounds of earth at an small group of equalists who were ganging up on a single guard. Mako, seeing his brother okay to handle things here, moved on searching for the Avatar. The first thing he heard when he approached her location was Naga’s roar, followed by Korra’s deafening scream. He forced himself to run faster than he already was, his sense of urgency growing. When he arrived on the scene not a moment later he found Korra draped over Tenzin’s unconcious body, Naga standing protectively in front of them, snarling at the equalist lieutenant and his troop. He couldn’t see her face, but he could tell from her shaking form that she was crying.

“Korra!” he yelled as he bended fire at the offending group, forcing them to back away.

Their time with the Avatar made the bending brothers realize that if they wanted to fight along side her, they needed to up their game. And so, with Korra and the White Lotus, the brothers trained their bending to incorporate a more traditional style. And because of it, they grew stronger. Mako, confident in his current strengthen and driven by desperation, switched his techniques and bent bolts of lightening at the enemy, causing them to retreat further away from the group. When he reached Naga, he was met with a sight he wasn’t expecting.

Korra’s eyes were glowing white, her aura pulsing through the air as she gripped Tenzin. Tears still streamed down her face. She laid the air bender down and stood, slowly ascending into the air. Mako watched in awe and terror as she began bending the elements at the equalists, all four at the same time. He’d heard about this from Tenzin when they first started training with Korra. The Avatar State, a trance in which the Avatar could channel all the knowledge and power of their past lives. He could feel the earth shake, and winds pick up. He could hear Naga whine in slight discomfort and worry as she moved to cover Tenzin from the debris that was flying everywhere. He could taste the ash from the burning buildings and smell the smoke that filled his lungs. But, he mostly felt fear. Not the fear of her current state, but fear of losing her.

For once in his life, Mako had (unknowingly) found a constant other than his brother, someone who made him enjoy life and all of its wonders. It might have only been a few months, but he knew, deep down inside of him, that he loved her.

“You’ve reeked havoc on this island for the last time,” Korra said, with the voices of the Avatars passed. “You will no longer set foot here, ever again.”

She bent earth and air, sending the enemy flying back down the mountain before she turned and floated to the next location. Mako quickly followed, watching as she bent every enemy she came across out of the way and back down the mountain. When she finally arrived at the last location, Mako caught sight of Bolin, who’d caught sight of Korra and they exchanged looks. Bolin was scared and confused too.

“What happened?” his little brother shouted at him.

“Tenzin got hurt. When I got there, Korra was already like this,” he explained as they ran to each other.

“We need to stop her before destroys the island!”

Think Mako! His mind racing trying to figure out how to pull her back into reality, but he kept drawing blanks. Screw this! And he ran toward her.

“Korra!” he yelled for her again. “Korra, it’s me Mako! You need to stop!”

Korra only looked down at him for a moment, then ignored him, continuing to purge the island of its invaders.

“Boost me up bro!” He shouted and felt the earth move under his feet as he reached Korra’s height. They were face to face now and Mako grabbed her by the shoulders. “Look at me!” he continued to shout. “Korra, you’re going to destroy the island!” Korra looked at him again, and he noticed she never did stop crying. For a split second, the winds died down and he took advantage of that. “It’s over now, they’re all gone.” He pulled her into a warm embrace. “You can stop now.”

Slowly, the winds died down, the earth ceased to tremble, and Korra fell limply into his arms before weakly clutching the fabric of his jacket. He could feel her sobs wracking through him as she cried into his chest. He cooed softly, murmuring reassuring words as Bolin brought them back down.

“Tenzin,” she said suddenly. “Where is he?”

“Back with Naga,” he explained. “He’s unconscious we’re going to have to get him off the island.”

She nodded wiping her tears away. “Let’s go.”

A couple of days later, Korra sat outside the safe house where they’d taken Tenzin and some of the injured White Lotus members, watching the sunset in a slight daze. She could still feel the raw power that had coursed through her during the fight and shivered at the thought of losing control.

“Hey,” a voice called softly behind her. She didn’t bother turning. “How’re you feeling?”

“Physically, better. Emotionally, like shit,” she grinned weakly as Mako joined her.

He only hummed in response. Ever since they arrived here, Korra had shut herself off in isolation, not giving them much of a chance to talk. Though, now that he had one, he wasn’t sure what to say.

“I never thanked you,” she said quietly, moving closer to him so she could place a hand on his arm and look at him properly. “For… stopping me. So thank you, I don’t know if I could have otherwise.”

He chuckled softly and shook his head. “No problem,” he met her gaze. “If it happens again, I’ll be there to keep you anchored.”

She left out the first genuine smile she’d had in days and allowed herself the to lean against him as the sun shined its last few rays of light onto the world.

She knew it wouldn’t be the last time this would happen, but at least she had him to keep her anchored.

That’s really enough guys.

All over the Makorra tag there’s been a lot of people saying that Makorra is Zutara 2.0, and obviously there’s a lot of fans who disagree and agree with this. Personally, I disagree, but that’s not really the point here. I’ve been following LoK for a long time on tumblr (this is my second one which I wanted to dedicate to writing) and I’ve been seeing it a lot all over the place and enough is enough.

Who cares if some people think that Makorra is Zutara 2.0? People who don’t think this way have state their case, and I’m sure the opposing side has read it, and continued to disagree. But, don’t get all mad and frustrated because they don’t. For example, today I was scrolling through the Makorra tag and found a post that basically said that everyone who believes Makorra is Zutara 2.0 is wrong and at the end of the post it said ‘kill yourselves’.

Really? REALLY? I don’t care if you meant it as a joke, suicide is never something you joke about. Especially on the internet, because you don’t know who might be reading what you post. I don’t really care if you believe Zutara = Makorra, or whatever, just stop trying to shove your opinion down other people’s throats. It’s wrong. People are allowed to believe what they want.

Of Dreams and Things

Inspired from the scene where Mako and Korra fall asleep in the park and artwork by @iambolin. Kind of set in the future? Idk. I know it’s only episode three, but I just love this ship. :]

“What, after having two kids you’re getting all shy now?” he laughed and she blushed.

Korra felt her eyes slowly droop, as she struggled to stay awake. No, she thought as she jerked herself awake, I have to stay awake. But, despite her best efforts to stay awake, she slowly drifted off into sweet sleep.

When Korra woke, she was in a large open field, only trees and flowers could be seen in the surrounding area. She took a good look around, trying to figure out where she was and what she was doing here, but nothing came to her. Suddenly she heard laughter behind her as two young children ran up to her, clinging to her legs.

“Mama!” The little girl said impatiently. “Let’s go! Papa is waiting for us by the lake!”

MAMA?! The thought flashed like those fancy neon signs in the city. “Um, what?” was the only reply she gave.

“Papa said to hurry up or he’d eat all the food,” the little boy frowned, just as impatient as his sister.

“Okay, okay,” Korra conceded, deciding to allow the kids to take her to whoever their papa was and have him explain.

The pair of siblings squealed and grabbed. her hands as they pulled her through the field and over to a large lake, where she could see a man sitting on a picnic blanket next to a basket of food.

“Papa!” the kids yelled as the ran over to him. “You didn’t eat all the food right?” The little boy asked as he climbed into his lap.

A deep throaty laugh filled the air. “No, I didn’t.”

Korra froze, she knew that voice. That voice belonged to the only deeply brooding, over analytic, jerk of a captain, firebender she knew.

“Mako?!” She said in disbelief.

He turned to look at her as the kids climbed all over him, trying to get him to get up and play. “Yes, Korra?” he gave her a funny look. “Now are you going to just stand there or are we going to eat?” the little boy gave a tug on his ear. “Ow, stop that Rin, we can play when we’re done eating.”

Korra stood for a moment in utter disbelief before taking a seat on the blanket. This Mako was not her Mako, well not her’s in a sense but the Mako she knew. He was older, slightly more built, had glasses and facial hair, and looked so much more, handsome. She blushed at the thought as she watched the kids unpack the food impatiently.

Throughout the entire lunch, Korra said almost nothing, simply watch the scene before her unfold. He looked so natural with the kids. He laughed and smiled, and was nothing like the Mako she knew, but in a way he was. He never spared a snarky sarcastic comment when she did speak or fail to reprimand the kids when one of them spilled something. This Mako was, nice. She smiled slightly to herself. She could get used to this.

When lunch was finally over, the kids quickly ran off to the lake to play.

“Hey! Don’t whip any water at your brother Mara!” Mako yelled after them. He chuckled and shook his head and looked back at her. “Are you okay? You haven’t really said anything at all.”

“Ah, um, no I’m okay,” she said quickly. “Just a little tired I guess. This all just seems like a dream.” she moved to help him pack up the containers.

He chuckled again. “Yeah I guess after all the fighting it would seem that way. But, everything is okay now, Republic City is finally at peace, and we can take a break for once.” His gaze turned toward the kids. “These past few years really flew by. I can’t believe they’ll be starting school soon.” He looked back at her and patter the seat next to him.

She glanced over at it, slightly hesitant, before she went over to sit by him, allowing herself to lean into him, but only slightly.

“What, after having two kids you’re getting all shy now?” he laughed and she blushed. But, never the less he wrapped and arm around her and she sighed feeling content. She allowed herself to curl up against him further, and closed her eyes. She could get used to this.

They awoke to shouting and birds chirping. Slowly, opening her eyes, Korra glanced up and found herself staring up at Mako, who in turn was staring down at her. The dream came rushing back to her as she realized she’d been using him as a pillow.

“UWAH!” She yelled scrambling away from him, a light blush painting her cheeks.

She looked away, slightly disappointed. Even if it was only a dream, she wouldn’t have minded if it was reality.
